The following informal definitions of our mission areas should provide appropriate context regarding the depth and breadth of of our research:
Terrorism – Attempts to coerce, influence, or disrupt social integrity through the use of calculated political or ideological violence.
Homeland Security – National effort by all levels of government to protect its territory from hazards, both internal and external, natural and man-made.
International Security – Survivability of the nation state, international relations, and national/coalition use of force.
Intelligence – The art of collecting, evaluating, and interpreting aggregated information and data to support the decision-making process.
Technology and Innovation – Usage and knowledge of tools and crafts to control and adapt to particular environments, with a specific focus on cybersecurity and issues of technology surprise.
